Dorado is home to some of Puerto Rico’s most beautiful and distinctive coastline. At the heart of it is Dorado Beach, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve, one of the Caribbean’s most exclusive oceanfront resorts, surrounded by golden sand, tropical vegetation, coral reefs, and serene Atlantic waters. The resort sits on part of the former estate developed by Laurance S. Rockefeller, who was drawn to the natural beauty of this coastline in the 1950s and designed the original resort around preserving its landscape and unobstructed connection to the ocean.

Another Dorado landmark is Ojo del Buey, where the Río La Plata meets the Atlantic and a distinctive rock formation gives the beach its name. Farther along the coast, Rockefeller Beach, associated with the historic Dorado Beach estate, is known for its lush surroundings, golden sand, reef-protected areas, and calm lagoons. In fact, what is now known as West Beach was the stretch of coastline that originally attracted Rockefeller to Dorado. Dorado also offers popular local beaches such as Kikita, famous for surfing and Atlantic swells, and Balneario Manuel “Nolo” Morales, a favorite for enjoying the sand, water, and relaxed coastal atmosphere. From secluded luxury beaches to surf spots and local favorites, Dorado’s coastline is a major part of what makes living here so special.
